The Spanish 397P Latinx Theatre class and the First Generation, youth leadership organization,in partnership with the Teen Resource Project, a program of The Care Center studied three pedagogies: Theatre of the Oppressed by Augusto Boal, Nuyorican Poetry by the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, and Teatro Capensino focusing on Luiz Valdez's Early Works. The art that we created centered our stories, our experiences, our languages, our heritage, and our struggles. Our work is our testament and our voice.

Exploring creative depthsMany of us had never performed on stage or practiced creative writing. However, through this process we were able to give voice to stories and experiences. We were able to create art that celebrates ourselves and our stories.

A lasting journeyThis is not the end of our journey. Our lives are stamped with the bonds and friends we made in these four months. Whenever we write, create art, or stand up and tell our stories we are paying homage to this time. We are keeping the energy that we created alive and we are sharing and spreading our light.
